The El Paso High School Umpires Association is an independent, nonprofit corporation founded by seasoned baseball officials from El Paso, Texas. We follow the National Federation of State High School Associations Rules and Regulations. The association operates by the EPHSUA Constitution By-Laws and Operating Policies. The purpose of EPHSUA is to provide high-quality officials for all levels of baseball in regional and state competitions by maintaining a disciplined, highly motivated membership consisting of certified and experienced umpires. We demand that our members maintain and encourage the highest standard of ethics. We conduct regular meetings to interpret rules, mechanics, and educational clinics for the association. We are also responsible for coordinating assignments between schools and association members.

The job of a baseball umpire requires quick thinking, common sense, and confidence. When the ball is in play, the umpire sees the action, assesses the situation, and makes the call. The successful umpire has a thorough knowledge of the rulebook, is even-tempered, and is mentally strong enough to handle baseball situations under stressful conditions. An umpire is expected to hustle, be alert, and have a neat appearance. The EPHSUA wants you to be a part of the game. We work with all levels of experience and have a training program that will help you be the best umpire you can be.
